EI-BUD
By coincidence I spoke with Aer Arann earlier this week concerning SEN.
They don't have any current plans for SEN operations as they already have new routes opening elsewhere and increased frequencies on existing routes. Operationally there isn't currently sufficient capacity to consider SEN at the moment it seems.
I know they have looked at SEN about 18 months ago and, at that time, they did see it as a London gateway (not just for Southend's own catchment area) for routes to northern France and the Benelux countries.
I would have thought the time might be right for SEN's new MD to make a fresh approach with a view to coming up with a financial deal (and I'm sure Aer Arann will be looking for substantial 'incentives') that might result in the commencement of services in the autumn or spring 2008.
