The dream is still alive and kicking
I'm in my late 30's and flying has always been sort of calling for me. But somehow I was never able to get the money together to actually do it. I just returned home last fall from an over seas deployment with the military and it seems that there are benefits coming my way and I have the opportunity to give it a go. But now I have another problem, family. The wife is concerned that as a pilot, I would be gone all the time. Is that true? What is it like for a family guy to become a pilot? She's behind me 100%, but does she have a point? Flying has always been sort of a natural thing to me. I've studied it from every angle since I was a kid and I sure would like to finally get into the real thing. I flown (ridden) in small planes hi-school and even choppers in the service and I love it. I've always felt that I have a talent for flying but is it conducive to a family life?
