Troublesome types ?
Following a favourable but just about do-able ATC clearance last week, I was recounting to my (much younger) colleague my experience of a familarisation trip to LATCC circa 1987. My most vivid memory is of the sigh with which a BAC 1-11 was received as it transitted between sectors.
There were various comments about its inability to make clearances, speeds, levels etc etc - all in good humour I might add; but a definite sense of having to work to thread a 1-11 through the other traffic !
This got me thinking about the 21st century equivalents; if indeed there are any in this world of largely homogenous performance. I am very well aware that over-performance can cause the converse problem and also of the issues caused by the large russian a/c operations - but are there still troublesome types?
