One of the little things I like about germans is that they beat around the bush, but forget to mention the 'real things'.
What Cityliner didn't say is that in Germany there are several companies offering preparation courses for the DLR test (ATTC, ToPilots, SundPTraining). If you don't take part in such a course your chances of landing a job will be virtually zero because all the other guys prepare themselves in that way, setting the pass mark to a high level. This applies to both stages. If you get through, it's one of the best flying jobs worldwide.
Life shouldn't be harder than absolutely necessary.
