I was easily able to go backwards in my Nipper today! Does that count? It's really cool to look out and see the ground slowly retreating out from under the front of the wing!
If you get another day like this try "vertical circuits" - take off,climb a bit, reduce speed so you travel backwards down the runway, land. Needs coordinating with ATC or a private strip with sole use (where I did it), but fun to try.
