Hope you're well! Yup it's just the Dxb-Mel-Akl that lays over in Akl (for around 27hrs). The only other EK flight that lays over in NZ is Dxb-Syd-Chc which lays over in Chc for around 24 hours. Can be hard to get back to NZ... Having said that, so far I have managed to get home once a month since I have been here! Even if you're not rostered a Mel-Akl flight, it is possible to 'swap' trips with other crew of the same grade.
