FL310, attempted to goto www.windowsupdate.microsoft.com, and my computer demanded I insert an 'eircom' CD in my D drive.
This I have sourced as the fundamental source of all of my troubles!
A few weeks back a nice lady gave me a free CD at some traffic lights, which allowed me FREE internet with my national telephone company.
Attempted to run this CD, and it F***ed up IE4, which I already had installed, and prevented me from accessing anything!
After listing off all of the files on the CD, I ran Windows explorer, and prompty deleted anything that had appeared on my list!.
IE5, I now discovered, was installed on my machine, and worked a treat, as did Outlook, except for the printing that is.
In any case, I am now unable to update, as I threw out the offending CD. Thanks a bunch Eircom !
Anyway, after much tearing of hair, and after Corporate Yank had suitablly scared me with regard Outlook, I went to www.McAfee.com, and downloaded their 'McAfee Browser', and eMail program!
It is fantastic, works easily twice as fast as IE5, and I can now print from my mail program!
It did take a few minutes to set-up though.
One final Question. I now want to delete all of the MS rubbish off my computer, but I don't wist to lose either my connection manager program, or my address book ( which has sneeked it's way into the new mail program!)
How do I do this without causing myself more grief?
Thanks again, and Happy Christmas everyone!
