here are the As to your Qs,
1) Politics in flying? Well there isn't really any politics as in Seniority is concern. But just pay more respect to your Seniors and Pursers. They are fully in charge of the aircraft and you. So they are answerable to your actions. It is unlike any Asian airlines. I know so as I use to work for an Asian airline. And must say, EK is so so more relaxed.
2) You bid for your flights. But then again, it does not confirm that you'll get it. Your seniority is rotational and you will get your flights when you are almost on top bid. And usually a mixed of short and long haul. You get unlimited travel benefits with EK in YCL when you join. After six month, you also get travel benefits with other airlines. List of airlines is endless. Its very good. Only Pursers get Business Class on EK. So work towards it and you'll experience the privilege soon enough.
3) Parents and sibling will not get travel benefits until you get your probation over, which is 6 month. One of each type of concession ticket. Parents also get with other airlines. Siblings too but not as many as parents list of other airlines. All concesssional travel only after you finish your probation, or one year of service and some even 2. So it depends. They can however stay in your apartment but limited to two persons and your other flatmate must sign an agreement form to allow them to stay with you.
