What flying experience does your partner have? This may have some relevance. If he's a fast jet jock anyway he'll have no trouble. If he has experience of aviation in this country at all I'm surprised he even asked the question. If he has not flown before I'd suggest aiming his sights on say, a flying club, and working upwards from there. Good luck with whatever it is you're trying to acheive.
