Exclamation Another MAN-LON service

Copied from the MAAplc website.
What happened to the rumours that someone was going to restart the LCY service ? Not heard anything for quite a while. Damn shame KLMUK's master plan forced them to drop it.

Manchester Airport Welcomes New Luton-Exeter Link

Manchester Airport's domestic timetable received a double boost today with news that Link Airlines Limited are starting a new direct scheduled service to Luton and Exeter enabling passengers travelling from Manchester to connect with both destinations. Luton is the fourth London route to be adeded to Manchester Airport's UK network.

Link Airlines Limited will operate the twice daily service using a Cessna 406 twin turbo prop aircraft with capacity to carry 9 passengers. There are also plans for the airline to upgrade aircraft type within the next few months to increase capacity to 30 seats.

The flight schedule is ideal for the executive business market and also beneficial for leisure passengers. Business travellers will be able to either attend meetings in Luton or travel into the city by making use of the eight-trains-per-hour rail service which runs from Luton Airport, then fly back to Manchester the same day. Leisure passengers now also have another travel option if they want to visit the city for shopping, the theatre or sight-seeing if they do not wish to use the other London airports.

Manchester Airport Chairman, Brian Harrison said: "I am always pleased to welcome new carriers to Manchester and it's great news to be able to offer more destinations to northern travellers. As other London airports become busier, I am sure that business passengers will find another London destination very beneficial as it has a quick flight time of just 55 minutes and there are regular rail connections into the city. It will also be very useful for inbound travellers who can use it as a feeder service to Manchester Airport and it's 180 world-wide destinations."

Manchester Airport Chief Executive, Geoff Muirhead added: "Our second runway has given us tremendous scope to increase Manchester's timetable. Already, since the opening in February, we have seen bmi british midland start services to Washington and Chicago, Air Wales to Cardiff, Malev Hungarian Airlines to Budapest and British Regional Airlines to Gothenburg and there are many more in the pipeline making even more cities accessible for regional passengers."

Chris Clifton, Managing Director for Link Airlines Limited concluded: "It is a great opportunity for Link Airlines Limited to be joining Manchester - a major international hub and soon to be the UK's second largest airport. I am looking forward to working with the airport to make this service a great success and look forward to offering our customers a first class service."

The twice daily flights arrive at Manchester at 0815 (0915 BST) and 1700 (1600 BST) and depart Manchester at 0845 (0945 BST) and 1730 (1830 BST). Ticket prices for Manchester-Luton start at £239 return and for Manchester-Luton-Exeter from £349 return including all taxes.
