I DVD in enabled my Panasonic DV cam using web software - it works a treat and the camera is fully controlled by the Pinnacle software via Firewire. (Even if you can DV-in enable your cam you still need a record button on the cam or the cam to be controllable by the software). .. .See http://www.volny.cz/mkrejcik/dvzone.htm for some interesting techno speak on DV cam enabling.. .. .The Pinnacle Studio 7 software is excellent and will compile your edited movie back to DV output or to .mpg files in a number of qualities, including VCD (mpeg1) and SVCD and DVD (mpeg2).. .. .Adaptec Easy CD creator will write VCDs on CD-R.. .. .ULead DVD Movie Factory (available as a downloadable trial from the ULead site) will write SVCD and miniDVDs on CD-R. MiniDVDs are full DVD quality mpeg2 tracks written on CD. Menus can be written like a DVD. They play on PC DVD drives with DVD software with no problem but not on many set-top DVD players. All Sampo DVD players apparently play miniDVD - certainly the 2 clones available in UK work. They are the Sharp 740H and the REOC A5. The output is a tad jerky when the output is in PAL but fine when set to NTSC - but then your TV has to accept NTSC! (REOC player has a PAL/NTSC output selector on the remote). .. .See www.area450.com for DVD player compatibility/minDVD etc.
