In one word...interresting

went into Baghdad during daytime..with a B727-200...
controllers will clear you over the airfield..fl310 not uncommon
you start your SPIRAL descend over the field VISULALLY..visually climbing aircrafts not uncommon
no instrument approaches for you to bother with
you have to contain your climb and descent within 5 NM of the airport
watch out for sams and small arms fire during last stages of the approach
two observation baloons to avoid on the eastern part of the airfield
when i operated there ..had to pay landing fees in cash(us dollars please)
had to uplift fuel since refuelling was an unsure thing
and yes..got a TCAS RA instructing moi to DESCEND-INCREASE RATE OF DESCEND when i was out of 11300 ft (1800 fpm R/D) for approx. 4 seconds which felt like 4 hours
all in all ,..an interresting experience
