Good point. It was 1971-72 or therabouts. We still had blue collar attached shirts though. Had to lean on stores in '73 to get a one-off issue of green shirts for a prestige air display (NZ
).
Did we feel less RAF? Not really as we were in KD most of the time. The new green was also more tolerant of dirty than the light blue jobs. For winter use and evasion however I prefered the dark slate grey rather than the shiny green. I also liked the white CW suits we tried in '66 although they really did look shabby against virgin snow.
