Chuck, I must, with all due respect, beg to differ!
I see no point in leaving an airframe such as a B17 rot in the kunai when it could possibly be fully restored to a flying condition.
And that goes for a few P38s that I crawled over/around and into during my time in PNG. I knew of four or five airframes in various states of ruin about the country. Not to mention a P47 sitting on its nose down Milne Bay way, though I vaguely remember hearing that it has gone.
