Hi, I'm a 17 year old student studying for 'A' Levels in Kent, UK. I intended to start training for CPL after my 'A' Levels are completed (Summer 2008) but to be completely honest I am bored studying for qualifications that will have absolutely no relevance to becoming a pilot.
The only thing stopping me leaving sixth form however, is the uncertainty of whether any employer would offer any flying job to a 17 year old, even as a flight instructor. I'm not willing to leave school, borrow £thousands from bank/parents with the acute likelihood of nobody putting enough trust in me to offer me a job flying their aircraft.
Also, what flying jobs are available in the UK other than with commercial airlines (obviously not an option with my age and experience)? And would a night and/or instrument rating be essential for most jobs?
