Centaurus, a little interesting history, seems the C-39 has quite a link with Oz despite only 35 being built. Should note as well that it was known as the DC-2-243.
USAAS Serial 38-505 (c/n 2062) delivered May 15, 1939. (21st TCS, 374th TCG) crashed NE of Alice Springs, Australia May 25, 1942. All 4 crew and 5 (includes 2 RAAF) passengers killed. This plane was noted at Nichols Field, Philippines Aug 5, 1941 and may have been one which escaped from Mindanao in early 1942. Operated in Australia as VH-CCA
USAAS Serial 38-519 (c/n 2076) delivered Jul 18, 1939. To 5th AF in Australia Mar 9, 1942. To Australian National Airlines as VH-CCG Jul 7, 1943. Returned to USAAF May 3, 1944. WFU Aug 31, 1944. To civl registry as VH-ARB for Australia National Airlines May 29, 1946, then ****** Jan 17,1948 and Guinea Air Traders May 28, 1948. Scrapped Jul 13, 1950.
USAAS Serial 38-530 (c/n 2087) delivered Aug 18, 1939. To 5th AF (Australia) Mar 9, 1942. Transferred to Australia National Airlines Dec 8, 1942. Crashed Mar 9, 1944 at Molesworth
USAAS Serial 38-532 (c/n 2089) delivered Aug 17, 1939. To 5th AF (Australia Mar 9, 1942. To Australia National Airiles Jun 6, 1943. To VH-ARC May 16, 1946. To ****** Dec 7, 1947 and Guinea Air Traders Jun 21, 1949. Damaged at Kerowagi, New Guinea Mar 16, 1949, scrapped at Essendon Aug 1951
