Am I right in presuming that this latest Brownian venture (one of the many reasons I now reside out here) is only for flights originating in the UK?
You will have to pay the tax on your return journey (unless the airline is picking up the additional tax bill).

Goes into a big pot along with almost every other tax in the UK. Do not be fooled into thinking this "environmental tax" is ringfenced into anything for that may benefit the environment.
