Ok you've got a point there - No offence intended to our American friends, perhaps "cheesey" isn't the correct word.
If the US National Anthem is being used to try and portray the "US Acadamy of Aviation" ( Run by a Swede ) as some kind of "All American Hero" organisation, perhaps "disgusting" would be a better description.
Nurmi sounds more from Finland, not Sweden...
