Q1 for real oldies... Does anyone recall, or have any information about, a Sunderland/Sandringham on the Pool of London in the early 50s? My dad took me to see the flying boat when I was a nipper... it could have been during the Festival of Britain in 1951?? I can still visualise it moored on the Thames somewhere near Tower Bridge.

Second Q... getting a bit technical. Anyone know why "ATC" at flying boat bases used the callsign "Pinnace"? I thought a pinnace was a small boat or tender so how did it become used as a callsign?

Thanks all (as Captain French of BEA used to say!!)
