QUOTE=the wizard of auz;3023534]another unreasonable rise in rent . [/QUOTE]

They tried that, and thought they could ignore the bit being bound by the opinion of a third valuer in the case of the valuations between lessor and lessee being more than 5%.

One well known Jandakot character has won a victory over Ascot in their rent case, a good precedent.

It is a relief that Vaile finally made a stand, but it should not have taken this long, six months after Ascot's intentions were leaked to the press, six weeks after Sen Adams' questions in Senate Estimates.

All the JACC ever asked for was what they were entitled to under the Act, and that the Minister ensure that the airport-lessee company comply with the Act.

Ascot may have thought they could simply slip this through, put themselves above the Airports Act, Master Plan and the Commonwealth Property Disposals Policy. Their apparent lack of due dilligence should not have become OUR problem, but it did, and what a problem!

They should never have underestimated JACC and treated them like a bunch of fools who would belive their amateurish and laughable attempts to tell us what was good for us, when thier real agenda was crystal clear from the very moment their plan was "leaked", to their dismay, to the press on 15th June. We are a battle hardened lot, and we cannot be bullied or bought.

This shows what can be achieved when we all stick together, I hope this will now have positive repercussions throughout the industry. The privatisation of the airports is a mess and I agree, we badly need independant scrutiny of the behaviour of these monopoly airport-lessee companies if DoTARS let things that should never have even seen the light of day drag on for months.
