Why not try Stowe, Vermont. My wife and I had our honeymoon there a few years ago when the snw out west wasn't very good and we found it to be great skiing and an excellent community. We flew into YUL and drove about 2 hours down to Vermont. The skiing is surprisingly enough comparable to the Rockies as far as the skiing terrain goes and the variety of runs. Even living here in Calgary I would go back in a second.
