Well there is a positive side to this, at long last the tail (thomson) has stopped wagging the dog.
When "Flight Plan for the 90's" was announced the tail-slide began as the short term benefit for the shareholders took second place to the long term viability of the company.
Some of us at the time pointed out what would be the consequences of larger aircraft and were proved right. There is no doubt that the directors of Thomsons sat back and watched Easyjet move into our markets. They had an opportunity to stop them in their tracks and didn't.
As a retired long-serving member of staff I am saddened to see what an opportunity was missed by short term-ism by Directors more concerned with their annual bonuses than the long term viability of the company.
