If you can't get work references get personal references instead. It has to be someone that knows you(for atleast 5 years) and can vouch for what you were doing over that specific period.

Make sure that you put these personal references on your application form as the company cannot change your nominated referees once you have actually given them.

Another option is to get a letter from the TAX office showing the tax the employer paid on your behalf. They usually know what to send you when you tell them that it is for an airline airside pass.

A word of advice though try and get all the references before you start your training. It happens to alot of people and sitting at home counting the seconds whilst waiting for a reference to arrive can drive you insane. Add to that loss of income etc. etc. you will be setting yourself up for a fall if you leave it to the last minute.
