In your example if you were to arrive at 0900 LT on Monday then Monday would be your rest Day NOT Tuesday
Day off must encompass 2 local nights with a minimum of 34 hours rest u can look up the definition of a local night has some thing to do with including 8 hours rest starting from either 2200 or 0000 hrs and not commencing work before 0600 or 0800.
So you will get a local night on Mon as well as Tues and would be starting work Wed think there may be something about Duty not commencing before 8am if this the case then pick up from your big shiny brand new Villa will be at 05:45 ( 2 hours and 15 minutes before sign on) Wednesday
Ultra Long Haul Flights have therir own rules.
Dont forget to factor in our middle managers who also have their own interpretations of the FOM and FTL's as well as the company flying you over 900 Hours a year...oops then you get the next month off ...
well not so simple now we have an FCI that says that even though you have the next month off because we have flogged the living be- jesus out of you for the past 12 months we still want and will roster you for simmulator support duty, but we do recognise that you must be a little knackerd so we are not going to roster you for any late night early morning simm duties..instead we can roster you for up to 5 duties in the month that we are giving you off to recover.
Hey can any one remember a few years ago after the Factoring Hours stuff up Management said ... " we have checked all pilots Flying Times and No Pilot is over 900 hours" now the norm is to fly you up to the max allowed hours per year even though this is a legal limitation for EK this is now a target.
Look forward to arriving at the company sign on nearly 2 hours before a flight and on the crew bus 1 hour and 15 minutes before Flight departure even though Official Crew sign in is 1 hour before Flight Departure ( Cabin Crew its 90 Minutes Flight Crew 60 Minutes) so u should factor that in to your planned sked.
When u arrive back in Dubai after an ultra long haul flight some times u are given a remote stand with no wheel chair facilities and have to wait and wait and wait....even though your duty period ENDS after turning off those big noisy engines. For purpose of calculating your subsequent rest period then 30 minutes is added to this time even though you will not sign off on the company computer until 1 hour after you pulled on to the stand and have been doing duties associated with work.
Do some more research and search this web site using the words JFK Emirates EK and Flight Duty Times and Captains Discretion to see how tight the crewing issue is and how our company deal with it.
Having said all the above the rosters on the Boeing are like chalk and cheese with the Bus fleet . As the Company is going Boeing then expect this to change and enjoy those Rosters while you can.
Couple of days ago Rostering was looking to crew nearly 20 flights at 2000 hrs for the following day.
Wonder if the powers that be at the top of the date tree ever get to here this or just the 29 % increase in profits based on the same time frame last year.
Try asking some of those curly ones at your interview.
