The AIP still has some, but you're right, they do seem to have dropped the ball, though I have it on good authority that the original job was quite good, but ruined by the lawyers, who don't appear to be aviation specialists. I do appreciate that things have to be tidy, but the wording is often very sloppily written and you can drive a horse and cart through it, as the saying goes.
The whole thing grew out of my own frustration in trying to make sense of it.
