Im not sure if its about discrimination on EKs part.
When political issues are involved, limitations (like not being able to travel into the country) are placed to ensure that no discontentment will arise from either countrymen when being in one's territory. This happens all the time in history.
Perhaps its for one's safety too? But you yourself said this:

So assuming you are right, then there's no question about it. But you know what Claire? Like what flyoneday says, go and get it from the horse's mouth. It's not fair that you are denied the opprtunity because of nationality. Don't give up ok?
