Crashworthy Helicopter Sub-floor Structure

Hi guys,

Long time lurker...etc.

Currently I am an Aero Eng student and I am researching the crashworthiness (more specifically, the energy absorbtion efficiency) of helicopter subfloor structures using FEA. Currently, the subfloor structure has to be designed so as to limit the deceleration forces transmitted to passengers. This is achieved through a series of beams and bulkheads. The beams are I-beams but the web (the vertical bit) is in the shape of a sine-wave when viewed in planform.

It is these beams I am concerned with. Could anyone point in the direction of e.g. a drop test involving these beams or efficiency of the web shape etc. If anyone could offer some direction, experience or comments I would be very grateful.

Thanks for your time,
