Your A level choices should be purely based on the subjects you enjoy. Simple as that. If you prefer French to Maths, then choose French. What you said was all good advice, although I would also point out that the ATPL theory course requires a lot of previous knowledge of math and physics. Haven't come accross much French in my notes so far.
