ABB, good thoughts, but, nothing is going to happen even if all nigerian pilots down tool. Arik will keep on flying, and the losers will be the local companies that employ the locals. Talk about cutting your nose to spite your face.
One thing we all agree upon whether it is LJT or SN is that we are not held in high esteem.
Like sn rightly said, the local populace has no trust in the local pilots or engineers. IF they knew half of what those of us on this thread know, they will never fly any 5N registered aircraft.
That aside we need to check ourselves individually. We need to get an understanding of what it entails to be a "Professional". Wearing black pants and a white shirt with epaulettes does not confer professionalism on you. Let's stop making false position reports, let's stop arguing with ATC, If they make mistakes point it out and don't be a jackass. Let's stop brown nosing, it is disgusting at times to see pilots kissing butts of imcompetent simpletons.
Let's stop fighting each other over cabin crews, if we are pros then we should know that is sexual harassment.
These may seem easy, but guess what, people are watching us and are disappointed by our sometimes childish behaviour. When we deal with what is in our immediately control(ourselves), things will begin to fall in place.
Cheers
