More sensible suggestion: pick a rainy day and tell your instructor you'd like some time having the operation of the avionics kit explained to you. i must admit that if it includes one of the later generation of integrated Comm & GPS devices, it will take some time to get your head around it. However, the operation won't be covered in the POH, but in the manual that came with the avionics.
TOO
