Japan ANA 767 Contract Capers

Recently I have been in communication with various crewing companies to get an idea of what's on offer in Japan. Here are some experiences.

I spoke with IAC in relation to AJV/AJX. When querying the pay difference I was informed that one was a freighter contract, which paid more due to arduous flying and the difficulty in attracting crew. I then contacted Hawaiian Aviation to see if they were offering similar T&C's, which was answered in the affirmative. However, just for the exercise I pressed them on why the difference in pay, considering that both airlines were part of the ANA group. The only response I got was that "they are both operated independently". No matter how hard or from what direction I prodded, I could not get them to admit that one was a cargo contract. In my final email I stated that I had heard one was a cargo contract, and could they please confirm this. Of course I received no reply.

So if Hawaiian Aviation cannot and will not identify one contract as a cargo contract, what else are they not telling you?

I then emailed IAC back to ask whether there was a chance for a better deal for those with an existing rating and thousands of hours on type (the contract on offer pays the same for typed and non-typed canditates). I was told that the rates would stay the same, but I would have the benefit of "an easier training phase"!!!! Thank you very much kind sir!

I then smiled and decided to accept the lesser form of spin my current employer regularly delivers....
