Iasco and Wasinc seems to be the only two companies now recruiting for Jalways. Latest news is that the upcoming December class will be the last class for the 747 classic (always subject to chance!).

Plans are in place to start transition the classic pilots into to the -400 sometime next year.

HawaiiAviation has some pretty good info on their website as far as work and pay goes. They seems to be focusing on the 'blue team' aka ANA and its subsidieries.

Iasco and Wasinc pays the same amount expect that Wasinc takes out around 15% and turns around and pays this as a 401K contribution instead. Some disadvantages are the money is locked up in a 401K plan and not fully vested for 36 months. Double wammy if you leave before fullfilling your contract.

Days off are the same with either company. Pay is around $5500 net during training including per diem. Guarantee is only 50hrs. This equates to $5500 GROSS including per diem and that does not go very far living in Hawaii with a family. BUT --- If you fly more than 50 hrs you do get paid an additional $96 dollars per hours and it seems pilots are flying around 65-70 per month on average.

Upgrade time is around 3,5 years from start of training to sitting in the left seat, unless you did something to piss off an instructor or checker... it might take you longer

Captain pay is around 170% of FO pay I guess.

Commuting is doable as we can jumpseat on a few airlines and have reduced fare tickets on others. Just know that it might be a little rough getting to the Islands during vacation times.

Flying is;

HNL-KIX-HNL
HNL-NRT-HNL
HNL-NGO-HNL
KIX-BNE-SYD-KIX (goes away in March 2007)
NRT-BNE-NRT
NRT-MNL-NRT

Best of luck,
