BTW I thought avionics engineers were known as "fairies" - nothing to do with their private lives, I think the term came from the lights on Christmas Trees.
Similarly:
Electricians = Sparkies
Engines = Stokers
Airframes = Riggers
Cabin = Cushion stuffers
I am sure there are more.
