Okay Cabin Boy, I,m not adverse to being called to account, and you have a point worth considering here. If she were to respond, and take offence at what I hope comes accross as light-hearted I would of course apologise unre-servedly, as I would if I said something anyone lese found offensive in the process, however I still believe that the comment about her failing an exam goes further than that because you called into question more than just a subjective viewpoint on whether as a man watching the programme I found a "subject" attractive. Your comment, I and Mach felt, was inapropriate because it was aimed as a criticism of someone in particular who to the best of our knowledge is not on this forum and therefore unable and unavailable to defend herself. Furthmore, to some it could be seen to question her professional conduct and ability. Your posyt is above to see so I don't need to quote, but calling someone an airhead and accusing them of being more worried about her hairstyle than learning her job is more than unduely harsh. Like I pointed out none of us know her, she might well have been 100% committed to learning her job but we only see what the producers wanted us to see. Perhaps they wanted to portray her in a certain light? Who knows? Neither do we know what she struggled on in the exam or why? Could you say you would not be affected by having a camera there making you nervous? again we will never know. The important thing is that she did pass the exam regardless of it being on the 2nd attempt and therefore PAX safety will not be compromised. Both I and Mach felt it was unjustified to call her ability to do the job into question and we both commented so. We tried to drop a subtle hint and it was not taken. For my part I meant no offence but to point out what I felt was a harsh comment in the hope you would retract or refrain. I am sure Mach felt the same. If you took offence I apologise it was not my intention, however, I will not apologise for the intention of my posts to you. I hope you concede why.
Onto the issue of the picture posts. I was accused of turning the whole thing into a cheesecake gallery. As I pointed out I didn't styart the thread, you did abd for your own reasons. I have no issue with this. Hell if someone posted pics of Army Air Corps officers, and officers in the British army/RAF/RN or pilots in uniform here or in any other forum and FAs/pax/an interested party commented on how we as a collection of individuals look I wouldn't take it personally. Maybe I am in an un-pc minority, frankly I don't care. So long as it doesn't get personal! My comment was a rebuff of an accusation I felt shouldn't be levelled at me. Like I said, I didn't post them.
Lets keep it light-hearted. Lets not get personal about people, especially as this forum is anonymous. These are the salient points. How would you like to be on a flight with another crew member who is sweetness and light to your face and writing anonymously about you here? It has happened a fair bit on the Mil pilots forum and I have gone on record there as saying I don't like it. I am not a regular officer anymore, and am now a reservist wearing a different cap-badge but I still know a few of the guys on that forum and I know I am not alone in my point of view.
