Centaurus is right. It is a long standing myth that dimming of cabin lights results in effective night adaption. Back in the war years, the public were told that night fighter pilots had good eye sight because they were given lots of carrots to eat. Generations of small boys who wanted to be pilots when they grew up were coerced into eating their veggies because of the carrots. That myth has been perpetuated right up to now except it is cabin lighting that makes you see in the dark better....
