For the open day my experience says your hair is not that important. I went to an open day twice and there where girls with open hair or pony tail invited to an interview!!
At my second open day I made it and I was wearing "only" a ponytail too!!
Choose a hairstyle you really feel professional and natural, that is the best way to show them your personality!!!!!!!
If you will be invited for an interview, of course THAT will be the time you need a strict business attire and you can show them your ability to do wonderful, tidy buns!!!!
