My overriding feeling is no. Despite this article(

"Ryanair ha pedido una barbaridad de slots para unir Madrid con Canarias." Translation: Ryanair has applied for multitude of slots between Madrid and the Canaries.
A more recent article (
http://www.canarias7.es/articulo.cfm?Id=36501 dated last week) speaks of a tourism official in Gran Canaria who is critical of Ryanair's decision not to fly there. There is a suggestion that the same tourism official is however glad that LPA didn't agree to the super low charges that FR were asking for.
