Oh yeah... I forgot to add.... my moan is about Gulf Air as an employer and emphatically NOT about Bahrain as a place to live. I have never been to such a friendly and welcoming country in my life. The Bahraini people are, in general, warm, generous and extremely helpful.
It is true that nightlife is limited to 1 or 2 cheesy venues or private parties, but it is the people you are with that make it enjoyable. And after all, there is more to life. The restaurants are great but they are certainly not cheap.
There are a great many things to do in Bahrain, its just a shame that while working for GF, you rarely have the time, energy or money to do any of them!!!!
