If you DEFINITELY have no other Symantec/Norton programs on your computer now, I would have no problem with deleting them.
As a precaution against trouble when fiddling with the registry, make sure the backup box is ticked in RegSeeker (bottom left-hand corner) and Windows System Restore is on (double precaution).
Afterwards, clear your Event Viewer > System (so you can track progress afresh) and reboot.
