Although EI operate 11x weekly from Cork, at a guesstimate only 40% of travellers on the route have Amsterdam as their final destination. Most are connecting on to other flights. Without those passengers, a route to Amsterdam is only marginally viable.
Looking at the airlines that have operations set up in Shannon and Amsterdam, only KLM look like they offer the sort of service that is required. But at the moment, they only use EI codeshares to serve Ireland and unless that changes I can't imagine them looking at Shannon. It's a pity in some ways, because a 2x daily Fokker 70 service would more than likely work for them.
