There's another thread running in a similar way in Rumours and news, entitled "court win may change..." This (later pages) relates to a report commissioned by the CAA into seat spacing as it relates purely to safety. Scary stuff.
You may also want to check out Todays Sunday Times tavel section, which highlights the rarely known fact that in many cases a seat pitch of 28" actually means 26" or less of real legroom.
