A Question about MD11 Engines?

Hi There my Friends
I've been throughout these years a Great Admirer of that beauty called MD11.
However there is one doubt, that even some MD11 pilots i talked with, couldnt explain me, so i respectfully ask for your kind help here, if possible.
As far as i search on the net, i couldnt find this answer...Let me try explaining with all my best english.
These pics below shows the GE engines of the MD11, as an example»»»

However there are some more pics of the GE engine»»»

So, my question is as follows...as far as i search(net, books, friends, etc), all tells that the engine in all cases are the GE.CF6-80C2D1F, with no changes.
But looking closely, we can see that the first examples show us a much more prolongated and sharpened exhaustion cone...
So, is this a new version, with a new name, or both have the same tech. designation, besides the differences...?
Sorry to take your time, or my apologies if you find this question a lil bit boring..
Many Tanx...Cheers
