C182 = thirsty

I used to own a share in a C182R (that's an R model not the retractable). Great aircraft in many ways - good climb, good endurance, stable IFR platform (mine had a Garmin 430 and 3 axis AP), good short field and strips, comfortable, high payload, great vis, robust.
On the downside boy was she thirsty! We averaged 55 litres per hour at 23/24 and got 125kts at 7000'. We also had a reoccuring engine problems but I suspect these were specifc to our plane.
The group broke up so we sold her. I did 150 hours at an average cost (inc UK insurance, maintenance, engine problems, installing the G430) of UKP87/hr, which was very good value (but then its about what price you pay and what price you sell as much as the running costs).
