Maxjet - to cancel or combine the JFK/IAD it is likely they don't have an aircraft available, so could be due technical problems.
Olympics - Initial talk about the 2nd runway was to have it built by 2012 which conveniently would be in time for Olympics, if it ever gets approved then it's more likely to be around 2015 due to all the politics. There are no BAA plans to develop STN specifically for the Olympics. To spend the millions of pounds needed on the airport infrastructure for a one off event does not make any business sense. STN will develop according to longer term strategic traffic forecasts, subject of course to the necessary Planning Approvals. Present strategy is for STN to make best use of what it has and develop only when necessary. Six new stands (B737-800 size) in Echo cul-de-sac should open in about 1 month, but no more stands planned at present. A Terminal arrivals extension is also planned.
