Above opinions are correct. A319 has to much residual thrust at idle. If you are stuck with some tailwind, config early. This also applies to high density alt approaches. A approach at 5500ft field elevation (Johannesburg) is far more slippery than a coastal approach. I did a Go-Around in Windhoek, Namibia (about 4500ft at 28 degC) recently where full flap was taken at 1500ft AGL at Vapp +25 and at 1000ft AGL we were not stable. Tip for the day: Be at 2000ft AGL with Flap 2 and consider taking gear. DON'T FORGET TO MANAGE THE SPEED.
