Turkish - Helicopters have been used to cull deer since the days of the Bell 47 and the Hiller UH12E. The country that they hunt in is inaccessible by foot in most cases and the deer is a class I pest so the Govt sanction the use of helicopters.
In the old days there was over 100 helicopters hunting deer every day. Now the price for the meat has gone down there are not that many even though the deer population is increasing again.
Its definately not a macho or OTT thing, its a business and is treated as such. Hope that answers your questions.
