Ah yes, the good old HF radios. I figured you were too young to know about them C-RH.
Oh, we still use it everyday here on the East Coast. I don't have much luck reaching "214 Smithers" these days though. When I had the engine quit in the JetRanger, HF was the only means to contact help. Old, but came in useful.
