Being an Ops Manager apparently from the Glasgow area, you should know better. Your B747 GTI? that diverted into Prestwick and was waiting for a stand for 1.5 hours is very hard to believe.
I think you're pulling a leg here.
Unless you commute to a European or a stateside operation, being based at Glasgow I take that with a little pinch of salt.
I will be the first to admit that the parking was a little tight that night, we had all of the extra diversions, but every one got there eventually in the end. Not one a/c sat for 1.5 hours!!
During the shift I worked this period, the only delays on the ground were due to a/c leaving the apron (at Prestwick twr we can't see it) against inbounds etc.
Also every a/c had to be marshalled so thereby slowing thongs up just a little bit.
The problem with ATC, I don't believe for one minute that you were ignored - maybe your crew were on box 2 to handling - yes we were busy but not that busy as to have a stand denied, we have remote stands all over the airfield.
