Stuka, SIA Mauritius is just a subsidiary of the parent company. If you go that way, administratively you would not be an employee of Singapore Airlines and there are a number of areas in which you might be treated differently. Of most significance, ou are not entitled to be unionised (only pilots of SIA are). As for rosters, SIA Mauritius pilots are flown to the maximum allowed under law (Air Operators' Certificate) while SIA pilots are flown to the limits agreed with the pilots union. Essentially the differences are 1000 hrs/yr vr 900 hrs/yr, and 100 hrs/28 day cycle vs 85 hrs/28 day cycle. The minimum rest periods under law are also applied - so in essence the SIA Mauritius pilots get only the bare minimum rest during layovers while the SIA pilots often get a little more. The 'upside' is that SIA Mauritius guys get lots more off days at their home base (up to 8-10 days, I believe) while the SIA guys probable get around half of that when they're back home. By the way, if you join SIA, the home base is Singapore only. Money matters - SIA guys get their bonuses as announced, but the SIA Mauritius guys do not. THis year SIA paid out 7.03 months of bonus, but this is higher than the average which tends to be around 3 - 3 1/2 months. SIA Mauritius pays whatever bonus they decide & you don't have a say. I understand though, that SIA Mauritius last year paid around 3 months but you'll need to confirm that yourself if you have buddies. Hope this helps.
