very sad to see accidents like this still happen

- I got taught that when you do pre-flight control checks, stick your thumb up on the yoke, and whichever way you move it, ie full right/roll right, your thumb will point at the up-going aileron

- easy to remember for a quick check. Must be a nightmare when you can't see the controls you are operating though
